Star Wars 8 Director Rian Johnson and Mark Hamill "fully endorse" avoiding The Last Jedi marketing until film releases

Disney might be going a little too far on spoilers.

Spoilers. They are almost impossible to avoid, and there's been many a fan debate on what exactly qualifies as one. More information has come out over the last few days namely the confirmation that Luke is not alone in his exile, his attitude towards Rey, and Leia's role towards Finn. As such, both The Last Jedi's director Rian Johnson and Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill "fully endorse" the idea of fans avoiding any and all marketing for the film from here on out.

Here's a Tweet from Hamill which includes a link to Rian Johnson's tweet.

Rian Johnson's warning of "more stuff is coming," is to be expected, but you have to wonder that now with the sequel trilogy firmly entrenched as a success, that Disney won't open up the marketing push even further than on The Force Awakens. Last time, they were pretty good about keeping a lid on things, but with the pressure to "go bigger" that always follows with sequels, that idea could translate to the advertising department as well.

That said, between social media and the variance on what people consider spoilers, it's almost impossible to keep yourself completely free of this stuff.

Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi releases in theaters on December 15th, 2017.
